The Welcome at the Entrance to Killarney Golf and Fishing Club

Killarney RFC held its annual Golf Classic at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club at the renowned Mahony’s Point course on Friday the 30th of June last. In all, 46 teams of four took part and a host of sponsors supported a very well run event. The cool windy conditions could not prevent some fine scoring with 2 scores counting on each hole and 3 on the 18th.

Longest Men’s Drive on the index one 11th hole was won by cannonball hero Denis Pio Moriarty of “Heather” at the Gap of Dunloe. Longest ladies drive was won by irrepressible supreme Mary Geaney on the 9th.

Nearest the pin was Limerick hurler and gentleman golfer Mike Leahy with a super strike to within 3 feet on the 12th. Finally the ‘hole-in-one’ was not won and nobody got to Cycle home despite Noreen Coffey striking the pin on the stunning setting of the 18th green.

Our fantastic hole-in-one prize sponsored by O’Sullivan Cycles

Fantastic food was served up by Paul Cotter and his team at the Chapel with wonder burgers provided by Flesk Meats and chicken kebabs provided by Tim Jones’ Butchers. A great spread was enjoyed by all and coolly washed down by a glass of Killarney Lager from the star Brewery.

Our sincere thanks to all our generous sponsors, supporters and Killarney Golf Club for making it a super day in advance of the Ring of Kerry Cycle sand the Munster Final weekend. Thanks to the committee especially hard working Junior Finnegan and Captain Ger Moynihan.
