Minis – End of Season:

U7's KRFC< U8's KRFC

Our minis section held a hugely enjoyable ‘End of Season’ party and awards presentation following last Saturdays final training session of the season. Following on from what was undoubtedly a hugely successful season, our hard working coaches and players will take a well earned rest over the summer. Over the year, we had teams at all ages representing Killarney RFC at Blitzes in Killorglin, Castleisland, Tralee, Listowel etc and the pride in the Red and Black jersey was something to behold. Mini Rugby is thriving in Killarney. This is due in no small way to the hard work of our Co-ordinator Tom Campbell, who was on hand to perform the MC duties on the day.

In all, almost 100 children received wonderful Killarney RFC medals and there were awards given to each age category for ‘Most Committed Player’ and ‘Player of The Year’. There were plenty of sweets and crisps to go around also, so a fantastic day was had by one and all. We would like to thank all the coaches who worked tirelessly all season: Derek Dennehy, John O’Leary, Liam Murphy, Ed Stack, Ian Harrington, Tom Campbell, Pat F. O’Connor, Denis Corridan, Seamus Greally, Seamus Kelly and Paul Neary. Also our Liason Officer Dora Campbell must get a mention of thanks for her hard work all season. We would like to send a heart felt thanks to the parents who brought their children to play rugby all season, in rain, hail or shine. Finally a huge thank you to each and every child who trained in literally all 4 seasons weatherwise (often in one day!) to learn the game of rugby. We hope you enjoyed your season and enjoyed the final day party also. See you all next September in our new home in Aghadoe!

Tag Tuesdays:

We are starting our famous “Tag-Tuesday” nights at Killarney Community College pitches on Tuesday, May 5th for the summer months. This is a weekly series of games of tag rugby, which is a non-contact version of touch rugby. It includes teams of 7 players, with a minimum of 3 ladies on the field at a time. To tackle a player in possession you simply remove one of the two tags which each player wears on each hip (Velcro). It’s a fast and fun way to get to meet people, have the craic and get fit as well as learn a new sport. We help beginners learn the game and within 2-3 games you will be playing at full tilt.

To play, come along on Tuesday at 7pm to the College grounds on Port Road or New Road, Killarney (by the Cathedral) and sign up. Summer fees are just €50 for the whole summer! We play on grass, so we recommend football boots and that you bring at least one friend! You never know who you might meet! Check out TagTuesdays on Facebook. Text Mike Fuller on 0876489628 for enquiries. Over 18s only. Party nights are also part of the craic.

Munster rugby Summer Camp:

The annual Munster Rugby summer Camp will take place next July at Killarney community college. The camp kicks off on Monday the 20th of July until Friday the 24th of July.
