‘Go Fund Me’ Pitch Maintenance – Thank You!

 In Club

We at Killarney rugby club want to say a huge thank you to all who contributed to our very successful ‘Go Fund Me’ campaign to raise funds for the upkeep of our pitches in Aghadoe.

Killarney Rugby now caters for 10 teams from U8 to senior level. In the recent years, the addition of both U14 and U16 girls teams plus a significant increase in playing numbers at all other levels has increased footfall. As a winter sport, keeping our playing fields in tip–top condition is a club priority.

Thanks to your generous support we engaged Cork Sportsground services who did the following:

* Spread 150 tonne of certified sports sand and brush it into the existing grass – levelling any divots to allow water to penetrate through the soil profile quickly.

* Sowing 300 kg of top-rated grass seeds on the fields in multiple directions – promoting establishment of desirable and hard-wearing grasses to give a super grass surface.

* Fertilised the pitches with a controlled-release fertiliser – helping grasses establish and feeding the pitches well into the season ahead.

2019 saw the visit of Munster rugby to our town for a training session on our pitches at Aghadoe. This was great moment of pride for our town and for all involved at Killarney rugby club. We regularly host many clubs from Cork, Limerick, Clare, Tipperary and Waterford and other parts of the country.

Your ongoing generosity allows us to provide facilities for hundreds of underage, youth and senior teams who train and play on these pItches. In the current tough economic climate it’s really encouraging to see such support. So, for this from us all at Killarney Rugby club: Thank you!
