Killarney RFC News:

Exciting new developments in Aghadoe as the truck with the lighting poles arrived on site. The next stage involves putting the poles into the concrete and putting the lights up. Exciting time ahead indeed!

This weekend sees the welcome return of the Munster Junior League with the seniors make the trip to Ballyrandle, in Waterford to take on Dungarvan RFC. Ger Moynihan’s charges will be looking for a good start to this years campaign, ahead of the season’s first home fixture the following weekend against Corca Dhuibhne, as the season kicks in in earnest with fixtures filling the calendar for the next few months. Training continues for the seniors each Tuesday and Friday at 7pm.

Our youths are due to return to competitive action on Saturday week, (October the 8th) with our U14’s kicking off with a home match V Castleisland and taking on Tralee away at O’Dowd Park the following week. Our U16’s and U18’s are due to return on the 8th also with fixtures to be confirmed over the next few days.

There will be no mini rugby training tomorrow as our coaches are taking part in the Munster Rugby Mini Rugby course at the Institute of Technology in Tralee this Friday and Saturday. These courses are very informative and great fun to take part in. Coaches new to coaching rugby will benefit greatly from the course and more experienced coaches thoroughly enjoy the courses and always try to learn something new. This is the first year that this course is taking place in Kerry and with 10 coaches from Killarney taking part, it’s a fantastic credit to Killarney RFC and an investment in the minis for the future! So, training will return on Saturday, October the 8th.

Trim Trail every Saturday:

‘Trim Trails’, are hugely popular across Europe and our growing in popularity around Ireland. Our ‘Trim Trail’ is a series of timber based fitness equipment strategically placed around the perimeter of our new pitches in Aghadoe. It is designed to combine walking and jogging with a well-balanced physical fitness routine for the whole body. Each station on the trail has its own unique challenge which will aid and develop balance and co-ordination as well as strength and muscle tone. You complete each station one after the other with the desired amount of rest time in between. It is envisaged that the ‘Trim Trail’ will not only be used as an added training tool for many teams that are in the club but to enhance the workout of parents and supporters of the club also. Killarney RFC is committed to providing activity for every age group. It is heart-warming to see so many different age groups enjoying the ‘Trim Trail’. Now parents can stay and observe their little ones training while they also get their exercise in too.  Come and join us on Saturday mornings and enjoy a well earned cup of tea afterwards.
