U14 Boys fall just short of double2023-04-272024-02-19https://www.krfc.club/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/rugbylogo.pngKillarney Rugby Clubhttps://www.krfc.club/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/3-1-scaled.jpg200px200px
Our U14s just failed to ad the West Munster Cup to the West Munster league title they had won in March, narrowly losing the final to Corca Dhuibhne 22-19. Killarney scored first and the try was converted from the right touchline by Sean Flemihg. RCD struck back with 2 quick tries to lead 10-7, but our second try form Liam McCarthy restored the lead of 12-10 at halftime.
Second half was less frenetic but RCD again scored to lead 15-12 early in the 2nd half. Then RCD struck again with a converted score to push their lead out to 22-12. With time running short, a break from sub Cian Stack lead to a try from Luke O’Malley with an excellent conversion again from Fleming to bring the score to 22-19, but time ran out before we could mount a final assault to try to snatch the game.
Congratulations to Rugbaí Chorca Dhuibhne!
Despite the loss in the final – this was an enormously impressive season from our lads – 12 straight wins in the west Munster League…
and undefeated in the qualifying rounds of the U14 Munster Cup – defeating Cashel at home, and Waterpark and Kilfeacle on the road.
