U14s progress to the West Munster Cup final

U14 boys reached the final of the West Munster cup with an emphatic win over Tralee last Saturday. The boys bounced back from their narrow defeat to UL Bohs in the semi final of the U14 Munster Cup with an excellent performance.

What looked to be the opening score by Rian McCarthy was chalked off when the referee adjudged a forward pass, but an identical move brought the opening score by the same player = converted – in the absence of regular 10 Cian Stack – by second row Sean P Fleming (channelling John Eales). A try from close range by Liam McCarthy pushed the lead out to 12-0.

Tralee then had a prolonged period of pressure just before half-time but determined defence ensured we maintained our lead at 12-0 going into the break.

Early in the second half,Ryan Vickers picked up a loose ball and found a gap in broken field to race under the posts. Fleming converted again to increase the margin to 19-0. A long range break from Liam McCarthy gave us our 4th try of the game and the third successful conversion by Fleming extended the lead to 26-0.

Final is next Saturday 22nd April in Tralee vs Rugbaí Chorca Dhuibhne – kick off 2.30pm
